Barry Douglas is one of the world’s most eminent and sought after pianists. Having won the Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in 1986 he has toured the world performing with all the major orchestras as well as giving countless solo recitals. He appears regularly at the Proms and records exclusively for the Chandos label. He is an artist who relishes a challenge the most recent of which was to record the complete piano works of Johannes Brahms. His programme will appeal to music lovers whether they be discerning devotees or those who simply enjoy listening to exquisite piano playing. Tchaikovsky’s The Seasons were inspired by poems reflecting the months of the year while Schubert’s C minor Piano Sonata shares many links with his Winterreise Song Cycle.
